We report so much on Ian Somerhalder‘s amazing deeds that he’s started to feel like a real-life friend. And unfortunately, right now, he’s a friend in need.
Last month we told you about his plans to build an animal sanctuary in his home state of Louisiana. If you’ve been following the story — or his twitter feed — then you also know he’s been struggling to raise enough money to secure the land for the sanctuary. According to his foundation website, they need $5 million to make it happen.
And now time is running out.
Somerhalder has been tweeting all afternoon that they still haven’t reached their goal and, even worse, the deadline is looming. “Oh have some ISF animal sanctuary news. Im so grateful for your support. We’re extremely shy of our need of 1000 out of 7 billion people to help,” he wrote.
“Deadlines suck but we lose our option on the land in a few days. Pls. If you can-pls pledge $10 per month for 1 year! Thanks!”
Somerhalder is extremely committed to the cause, which would provide rehabilitation to both animals in need and youth with a history of bullying. As we told you before, the plan is to allow the misunderstood animals to interact with humans who have bullying issues, with an ultimate goal of helping both parties to heal and grow.
Somerhalder’s most recent tweets really get to the heart of the matter. “I love, appreciate and thank you all. I dont want to lose this opportunity to save animals and work With you all of there… Thank you!!!!” “Did I mention- THANK YOU!!!!!”
We don’t want him to lose the opportunity either! To give what you can to help make this sanctuary a reality, head to the ISF donation page. But act fast, before it’s too late!
