Actor and environmentalist, Leonardo DiCaprio, has announced a partnership with electric car company, Fisker Automotive. The two will work together to promote their mutual passion for global sustainability.

DiCaprio will become an equity investor in Fisker Automotive, joining in conversations for their future manufacturing plans and will work closely on marketing and promotional initiatives. One key focus will be to bring attention to the need for sustainability. In turn, Fisker Automotive will support the charitable work of the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation around the globe.

“My foundation supports efforts to secure a sustainable future for our planet and all its inhabitants,” says DiCaprio. “I am delighted to be working with Fisker Automotive to promote this shared vision.”

Founded in 2007, Fisker Automotive has been designing and developing the world’s first line of premium electric plug-in hybrids. They promote the idea that environmentally conscious cars need not sacrifice passion, style, or performance.

In July 2011, DiCaprio received the first Fisker Karma luxury electric vehicle with range extender (EVerTM), off the production line.

“The Karma sedan – Fisker Automotive’s first car – is built according to the company’s sustainable and Accountable DesignTM philosophy, which represents a dramatic leap forward for the auto industry,” says Henrik Fisker, Executive Chairman and chief designer, Fisker Automotive.

DiCaprio took to social media today to excitedily announce the news to his fans, tweeting, “I’m thrilled to announce a partnership with Henrik & the folks @FiskerAuto to cont. our shared vision for #sustainability.”

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
