Actor Dominic Monaghan is not one to hold back opinions. His most recent criticisms came to light through Twitter last week when he lashed out at the History Channel’s reality series “Swamp People.”

The “Lost” and “Lord of the Rings” star tweeted his disgust and hatred for the show. He wrote, “If my hero #steveirwin was around those shows about killing alligators wouldn’t be on tv. I’m gonna stop them. Watch this space. [sic]”

Monaghan continued, “If alligator populations need to be controlled I understand but the act should not be glorified on tv.disgusting.These are living creatures. [sic]”

For those who don’t know, “Swamp People” is about a group of “swampers” who hunt alligators during the 30-day hunting season in the Atchafalaya Swamp in Louisiana.

Monaghan is an avid animal lover and he even went as far to say the show is about “rednecks killing alligators.” He also revealed he doesn’t enjoy the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” but noted “at least you don’t see these animals shot at.”

The actor has so much love for animals he is starring in a reality show about wildlife. “Wild Things with Dominic Monaghan” is hosted by the 35-year-old who travels the world looking for unusual insects. It will air in the United Kingdom sometime later this year.

“As I said I blame the network not the people.i consider it tortuous to stalk net n shoot an intelligent animal, [sic]” he added.

What’s sick is this Hollywood has been. If you don’t like the show, don’t watch it. The alligator population in South Louisiana is crazy out of control. There are state issued tags given out each year that people can buy in order to help control the population. It’s not unusual for a 4ft or larger alligator to pop up in your backyard here and eat your pet or potentially harm your child. They are killing these monsters very quickly in the most humane way they can think of…..he should go to slaughter houses and gripe to them about how they dispose of cows and pigs.
Another thing is that this show doesn’t even show the bullet actually killing the gator (the camera stays on the shooter the whole time). Nothing’s wrong with “Swamp People.” It’s an entertaining show that follows a group of Cajun Men working for a living. I guess it’s something West Coast liberals are not use to. He’s doing this on purpose too to raise awareness for his new show. Go away dude.

Gators do not have to be controlled. They control themselves…it is the reckless hunting tactics of man that disrupts the balance.
