When Prince William and Duchess Catherine visited the Santa Barbara Polo Club in California last year, they were only in the States for about six hours. But in that short timeframe the royal couple managed to raise over $1.5 million for charity thanks to celebrities such as Jennifer Love Hewitt and Billy Zane who paid thousands to rub elbows with them.

A total of $1.7 million was raised that day, with $1.5 million going to The Prince William and Prince Harry Foundation. This Foundation was set up in September 2009 to enable The Princes to “take forward their charitable ambitions.” The remainder of the money raised at the event last July is going to the Santa Barbara Polo Club’s training center, which organizes events for local, underprivileged children.
