David Letterman held nothing back last week when he voiced his concerns over fracking, calling the oil companies greedy, he plainly explained to America, “we’re screwed.”

The Late Show host went on to point out the issues with water contamination as a result of fracking, saying, “The Delaware Water Gap has been ruined. The Hudson Valley has been ruined. Most of Pennsylvania has been ruined. Virginia, West Virginia has been ruined. Colorado has been ruined. New Mexico has been ruined.”

Fracking is a controversial drilling method used for extracting natural gas. It has spread throughout the U.S. in recent years, despite growing acknowledgement of the risks involved. It has come under even more press in New York state recently, were activists are currently fight against reports that Governor Andrew Cuomo may allow fracking to take place in several counties.

Letterman joins fellow commedian, host of Late Night, Jimmy Fallon, who also recently discussed fracking on his show. Fallon joined Sean Lennon and Yoko Ono on stage for a song, titled “Don’t frack my mother.”

David Letterman is not usually my favorite person. But in this case, it is nice to have a person with a large pulpit telling folks that fracking is very, very dangerous; we can live without gas ut we cannot live without ground water

it’s not even ‘us’ that has to live without the gas. They using up/destroying all of our water, to send that gas overseas.

No wonder no one watches Dave. Frack away America. We need the production.

cannot get into him at all but now with this I admire his forthrightness about this issue and I hope he stays on it and brings great awareness to this destructive practice!

The only thing getting screwed is the staff on Letterman’s show. What an idiot.

  • Mmm

There are more expensive safer ways to frack that the oil companies are to cheap to implement! I think there should a be a protected boundary around lakes and rivers and homes…
