Back in May, Michelle Obama issued a contest for kids across the U.S., which was  to develop healthy recipe ideas as part of the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge. Kids ages 8 – 12 were encouraged to submit their recipes online, which were evaluated and judged at D.C. Central Kitchen.

Over 1,200 recipes were submitted from across the U.S. with one winner from each state. The winners will be meeting the First Lady on August 20 at the first ever Kids’ “State Dinner.”

Almost all of the winning recipes included kid-friendly vegetarian and vegan options. A free downloadable e-book with the winning recipes will be available through Epicurious.com.

Criticize veganism, but don’t discredit it

Oppressive and harmful behaviour has no place in a movement rooted in anti-oppression.

Jallikattu was a single issue campaign doomed for failure
