Anderson Cooper, Elton John Help Cyndi Lauper End LGBT Youth
A-List stars are joining the fight to end LGBT youth homelessness. Anderson Cooper, Elton John, Liza Minnelli, Lady Gaga and other celebs are helping Cyndi Lauper kick off the 2012 True Colors Summer Charity Auction which will benefit the True Colors Fund.
The True Colors Fund supports gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender equality. The focus of the 2012 True Colors Summer Charity Auction is to help to end LGBT youth homelessness. According to the AP, LGBT youth represent a disproportionately high number of homeless young people sleeping on the streets.
The celebrities who are helping Lauper launch the charity auction have donated some really cool packages for fans to bid on. Elton John has offered up two tickets and backstage passes to meet him in Savannah in September. Anderson Cooper, who recently announced that he is gay, has offered two tickets to a live taping of Anderson in NYC with a backstage meet and greet. Many celebrities have offered meet and greet packages but some others have donated outfits, tickets to baseball games and music festivals, and signed gear.
Lauper told Look to the Stars, “The True Colors Fund’s fourth annual summer online auction with Charitybuzz is shaping up to be our most successful to date. I am so grateful to everyone who donated an incredible experience in support of equality for all and to help gay and transgender homeless youth. The funds raised from this auction will go towards creating real change in the lives of so many. Everyone—whether straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual or transgender—should be allowed to show their true colors, and be accepted and loved for who they are.”
The 2012 True Colors Summer Charity Auction can be found online at Charity Buzz. All auctions close on Tuesday, July 31.
