Musician Jason Mraz has kicked off a tree planting initiative to help offset the environmental impact of his Summer 2012 US Tour.

The outspoken environmentalist has partnered with Reverb to help him ensure that he is doing everything he can to go green with his tour, while giving fans the chance to participate in the process. Using their cell phones, fans can send a text to give a donation and plant a tree in various much-needed areas of the world.

Mraz promoted the campaign, dubbed Tree Is A Four Letter Word, via his facebook page earlier today.

“Be among the first to plant trees in Jason’s virtual fan forest! Text “tree” to 85944 to make a $5 donation. And if you’re coming to a show, stop by the Reverb Eco-Village to find out how to help your local tree organizations. http://bit.ly/OZPund

As if all this wasn’t a superb enough move for the planet, Mraz will literally be getting his hands dirty in tree planting events that will be held in across the US. The events will take place in select cities throughout his tour.
