In his continuing mission to open an animal sanctuary, actor Ian Somerhalder regularly tweets about the importance of pet rescue. He’s explained why he needs donations to get his sanctuary running, and has even pointed out spots where his fans can adopt furry family members.

He’s still at it, and his latest tweet just might bring a tear to your eye — in a good way.

This morning, he sent out the message, “See what can happen with second chances? Please support our hopes of giving second chances to countless furry friends!” along with a link to a video from the 2012 Crufts Dog Show.

This particular video features the agility portion for rescue breeds. These rescues joyfully leap, weave and run, happily proving they’re just as talented as “store bought” dogs. You can see the delight on their little faces and it’s clear these dogs are hoping for forever homes — and clearly deserving of a second chance.

Crufts think so, too. At the end of the video, the announcer says, “Let’s give all of our dogs here today a massive round of applause. They come from loads of different rescues…It’s about showing that rescue dogs, no matter what their background, can make fabulous, fun pets.”

If this video doesn’t make you want to immediately run to your local shelter and adopt a dog, I don’t know what will. Check it out below.

My rescue is so special. He has found his way to places in my heart that I did not know existed before I brought him into our family.

Veld donates money to farm animals and also serves them

Lest we be confused that their giant V logo stands for anything other than Veld.

Trading beef for beans is not a solution, veganism is

Please do substitute beef for beans, but also have tofu instead of turkey, carrots instead of chicken, and I think you see where I’m going.

Guys, extortion isn’t an effective form of vegan advocacy

Assuming we can extort people into respecting the lives of others makes no sense.
