Australians are heralding the return of a rare albino whale off the eastern coast of the country – the only all-white humpback adult ever documented.

Nicknamed “Migaloo,” he is the only white whale that has annually returned to waters off the Australian coast since 1991. According to CNN, the humpbacks are on their annual migration from their breeding grounds along the Great Barrier Reef back to feed in the Antarctic. Recent closeup pictures have shown Migaloo to have skin cancer and/or skin cysts as a result of his lack of protection from the sun.
