On October 13th, Animal Defenders International will honor Bob Barker and Jorja Fox during a star-studded gala in the Hollywood Hills. Called “Lion Ark Night“, the festivities will revolve around last year’s huge ADI Operation Lion Ark rescue mission of 29 circus lions from Bolivia to the U.S. From the release:
After ADI undercover investigations secured a ban on animal circuses in Bolivia, the ADI team returned to track down and raid the remaining circuses defying the law. Every animal was rescued, with 29 lions airlifted by ADI to safety in the USA. The gala evening will feature a preview of scenes from the forthcoming movie Lion Ark introduced by ADI founders Jan Creamer and Tim Phillips, who led the dramatic rescue mission in Bolivia.
Barker, 88, will be awarded the international Lord Houghton Award for Services to Animal Welfare, an honor bestowed only once every four years. Fox will receive the ADI Animal Champion Award for her work to protect animals used in entertainment.
“Bob Barker’s philanthropic contributions to animal protection have been vital to the success of Animal Defenders International and others like us,” said ADI President Jan Creamer. “But, importantly, this award recognizes Mr. Barker as a leading and articulate voice for suffering animals in the world.”
Naturally, the evening will be a vegan affair, with plenty of hors d’oeuvres, desserts, wine, spirits, art, inspiring speakers.
Other special guests include Mindy Sterling (Austin Powers), Corey Feldman (Lost Boys), Carrie Ann Inaba (Dancing with the Stars), Elisabetta Canalis (Dancing with the Stars), Kate Linder (The Young and Restless), Tonya Kay (Bold Native), James Reynolds (Days of our Lives), Eric Roberts (Runaway Train, It’s My Party), Dr Jenn Berman (author, VH1 TV Couple’s Therapy)
