Singer Usher is the proud new owner of a female goldendoodle puppy – and she only set him back $12,000.

While we would generally frown upon paying that much for a puppy when so many are in desperate need in shelters around the country, we’re happy to hear that the cash raised all went to a good cause; benefiting the Pencils of Promise charity.

“All in the name of feline fun!,” Usher tweeted. (Um, we think he meant to say canine?) “It took me 2 years but I outbid everyone this year to bring Poppy home to Ush.”

The 33-year-old singer, who recently went vegan, calling it “the healthiest way to live”, said his kids will be thrilled.

“Poppy (????) Raymond is what I’m think of namin’ her…,” he added. “however there are two gregarious 3 and 4 year olds that will have the last say…and the responsibility that comes wit her.”
