Actor and activist Leonardo DiCaprio turned 38 over the weekend, and he celebrated by raking in gifts — for other people.

On Saturday, DiCaprio threw a bash in Manhattan at The Darby and invited a slew of celeb pals, including Cameron Diaz, Martin Scorsese, Emma Watson, and Beyonce and Jay-Z. But he turned the tables on traditional parties by making sure his guests helped the less fortunate.

The star added a fee to every bottle of alcohol that was sold, with funds earmarked to the Red Cross for Superstorm Sandy relief. By the end of the night, DiCaprio raised $500,000 for the hurricane victims, and also received donations for his Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation.

That’s one heck of a birthday party! Well done, Leo.
