What do Superstorm Sandy and high-end watches have in common?
In this case, the answer is the support of celebs Cameron Diaz and Leonardo DiCaprio, who are both ambassadors for watch brand TAG Heuer.
The actors stepped out on November 10th to celebrate a TAG Heuer benefit, which raised money for several charitable organizations, including U.N. Women and New York Cares, which is working on Sandy relief efforts.
Diaz was on hand to unveil the new Ladies’ Link Automatic Watch, as well as to present the Link Lady Trilogy, a watch, ring and bracelet she helped design. Sale proceeds from the trilogy will benefit U.N. Women.
She spoke at the benefit, saying, ”TAG Heuer brings together the elegance of generosity, and the essence of luxury. I’m proud to be a part of their efforts to make the world a better place.”
DiCaprio also made a surprise appearance at the event, which was held at The American Museum of Natural History’s Cullman Hall of the Universe in New York.
“I’m in town shooting my new film, ‘The Wolf of Wall Street.’ I’m very proud to be associated with a company that cares so much and gives so much back,” he said.
DiCaprio was wearing a watch he co-designed, the Leonardo DiCaprio Link Calibre 16 Chronograph, proceeds of which go to the charities of his choice: Green Cross International and the Natural Resources Defense Council.
TAG Heuer president and CEO Jean-Christophe Babin made sure to mention that Sandy relief efforts would also benefit from the event.
“New York and New Jersey were visited by a hurricane,” he said. “We decided it was important to help New York Cares with their relief efforts, and we are donating $100 for every guest who is here, which means we will be giving at least $50,000.”
