Here’s a great clip to end the week on – Newark Mayor (and rising political star) Cory Booker rescuing a freezing, lost dog from the cold.

Booker, a frequent Twitter user, sprang into action after ABC 7 reporter Toni Yates tweeted that two dogs were left out in the brutally cold weather on a Newark street yesterday.

Booker immediately came down to rescue the dogs (only one was there after its owner apparently came forth) and his good deed was caught on video. He picked up the pup and placed her in a warm car. The dog’s owners were then called, who said they had no idea she had escaped.

“This is brutal weather, this dog is shaking really bad and you just can’t leave your dogs out here on a day like this and go away and expect them to be ok. Hypothermia on any animal including a human animal will set in pretty quickly. So this is very sad, you can just feel the dog shaking pretty badly,” Booker said.
