It seems Ashton Kutcher went above and beyond for his portrayal of Steve Jobs in the biopic “jOBS,” but it didn’t turn out so well.
Kutcher followed one of Jobs’ famous diets by taking on a fruitarian regimen. He stuck strictly to fruits and ate absolutely no animal products. Well, the actor didn’t fair well and ended up hospitalized.
“First of all, the fruitarian diet can lead to like severe issues,” Kutcher told USA TODAY. “I went to the hospital like two days before we started shooting the movie. I was like doubled over in pain.
“My pancreas levels were completely out of whack. It was really terrifying … considering everything.”
Jobs died in 2011 from pancreatic cancer, and he was known for trying different diets to help with his health. In addition to his eating habits, Jobs was, and always will be, known for his Apple empire, and making a dent in the technology world.
“He’s a guy that failed and got back on the horse,” Kutcher said. “I think we can all sort of relate to that in some place in our life where we are moving forward with something and we fall down. You have to have the guts to get back up and go again. I think I share that as well.”
We’re glad Kutcher is OK. You can see him play the Apple co-founder when “jOBS” comes out in April.
