Earlier today a meteor shower crashed into Russia causing explosions, hundreds of injuries, and the evacuation of schools and businesses in the area.

MSNBC is reporting that an emergency official in Russia said, “Preliminary indications are that it was a meteorite [shower]. We have information about a blast at 10,000-meter (32,800-foot) altitude. It is being verified.”

Right now, it’s being reported that 400 – 500 people are injured, and that the blast caused damage in six cities including shattered windows, disrupted phone service and more.

In the video you can see a large white object barreling through the sky, leaving a white streak as it trails. Then, despite the distance from many of the people taking video, you can hear an see the impact. It’s truly terrifying.
