On Sunday over 300 people took to the street in Los Angeles for the Forward on Climate Rally to demand that President Obama take action now on climate change.

Environmentalists attended the event including actor Orlando Bloom on behalf of Global Green. Wearing a t-shirt that said “Beyond Coal” the “Lord of the Rings” star told ABC news, “I’m here because like any parent who is looking to the future for their kids, future generations, we have an opportunity to make a stand here.”

Miranda Kerr, a fellow environmentalist and Bloom’s wife, tweeted about his involvement, “My man at the climate rally with his cousin on behalf @globalgreen”. We had no idea that the CEO of Global Green, Matt Petersen, was Bloom’s cousin. Check them out in the photo Kerr posted of the two.

Those marching in L.A. had an easier time with temperature and weather. The thousands that marched in Washington D.C. did so in the cold. However, climate change wasn’t the only goal of the day. Activists also want the president to reject the Keystone XL pipeline once and for all.

The president has made climate change a much more central part of his platform so far in his second term talking about it in both his inauguration and in the state of the union. Fingers crossed that means that Global Green and Bloom’s desires will come to pass: a country that takes serious action to stop climate change.

Lest we be confused that their giant V logo stands for anything other than Veld.

Trading beef for beans is not a solution, veganism is

Please do substitute beef for beans, but also have tofu instead of turkey, carrots instead of chicken, and I think you see where I’m going.

Guys, extortion isn’t an effective form of vegan advocacy

Assuming we can extort people into respecting the lives of others makes no sense.
