Naomie Harris brings eco-fashion to the 2013 Academy Awards held at the Dolby Theatre on Sunday (February 24) in Hollywood.
The 36-year-old was this year’s celeb t0 graciously participate in Suzy Amis Cameron’s 4th annual Red Carpet Green Dress Challenge. The winning entry was designed by newcomer Michael Badger and brought to life by the legendary Vivienne Westwood.
From what we can glean online, the yellow gown (which took 120 hours to make) was created from fabric which is an organic GOTS certified organic silk Crepe De Chine, dyed using seeds from chamomile and goldenrod, and some unique and beautiful vintage and recycled elements – including candy wrappers.
According to Badger – a Ghana-born designer currently studying at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Atlanta, GA – the gown was inspired “by a volcano and how lava flows.”
