Each year the Humane Society of the United States puts on a star studded awards benefit to honor news and entertainment media and other high-profile individuals for bringing attention to a vast array of animal issues.

This year the Genesis awards will be hosted by “Dancing with the Stars” judge and devoted animal rescue advocate, Carrie Ann Inaba, and special guest Ke$ha will be given the prestigious Wyler Award.

Unlike the Oscars or Golden Globes, anyone can attend the Genesis Awards as long as they grab a ticket in advance. The event serves not only as a vehicle to celebrate animal-friendly media, but also to raise funds for the life saving work HSUS does each day. So if you want to see the stars accept their awards up close and help HSUS at the same time, grab your ticket now. It will take place on March 23rd at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California.

Now, for the nominees! And not that we’re in the business of making predictions, but we’d put our money on Colbert for the win for his segment on Representative Steve King’s insane take on dog fighting.
