WATCH: Billy Corgan's Furniture Ad to Benefit No-Kill Shelter

As is the trend with many semi-reclusive rockers, Billy Corgan sightings have become somewhat rare. So, it caught our attention when the Smashing Pumpkins’ frontman made an appearance in a local advertisement for the ever-zany Chicago furniture giant, Walter E. Smithe.

Corgan’s commercial debut isn’t just for show, though. The ad, which features the brothers from Walter E. Smithe in a glitzy wrestling ring with fighters from Corgan’s wrestling company, Resistance Pro (yes, he owns a wrestling company…) and Corgan as the cardigan-clad onlooker, was done in exchange for Smithe making a hefty $50,000 donation to Chicago’s largest no-kill shelter, PAWS (Pets Are Worth Saving).

A hometown guy at heart, Corgan says, “I can honestly say that if it had been anybody else in the country outside of Chicago…I probably wouldn’t have done it.”

An aspirational vegan, Corgan also recently opened Madame Zuzu’s, a tea Shop in a Chicago suburb that features sugar-free, vegan desserts.
