Want to hear an environmentalist scream? Tell them about the “exciting” bottled water brand being pushed by Mark Wahlberg and Sean Combs.

The two stars are working with AQUAhydrate, a California based bottled water company that sells “ultra purified”, “elecrolyte enhanced” and “pH+ supercharged” water to the masses.

That’s right. It’s not just your run of the mill water. It’s health water. (The italics were used for sarcasm in case that wasn’t clear.)

While plenty of celebrities partner with questionable companies, there is always something particularly disappointing about a major name plugging something as dubious and environmentally devastating as bottled water. First, that one would pay $2.49 for something that comes out of the tap for less than one penny per gallon is insane. To order a case of twelve bottles of AQUAhydrate online costs $29.99. Hardly the deal of the century.

Drinking water is certainly the healthy way to go, but spending hard earned money on bottled water is bad for the wallet and bad for the planet, even if it is “super charged”, whatever that means.

As for why these two celebs are working with the company, see them talk it up at the press conference in the video below. Try not to throw things at the screen.
