Last night the stars gathered for the 27th annual Genesis Awards, an evening to honor news and entertainment media for bringing attention to animal issues. Put on by animal protection powerhouse, The Humane Society of the United States and hosted by Carrie Ann Inaba, the event raises funds for HSUS’s lifesaving work.

This year’s winners included “Big Miracle” in the feature film category, “The Colbert Report” for his brilliant take down of dog fighting defender Representative Steve King, “Ivory Wars” for best TV documentary and so many more. See the full list below.

Over the next few days we’ll have interviews with Moby, Leilani Munter, Seamus Dever, Hal Sparks and more as they dish on their vegan and vegetarian diets as well as their love for animals. They were just a few of the attendees of the night. Munter said about why she came, “I just wanted to come out here and show my support for the animals. It’s important. You know, they don’t have a voice and we have to be the voice for them.”

Humane Society International ambassador Ke$ha was also in attendance to accept the Wyler Award, an honor given to one celebrity each year who has used their voice to speak up for animals. In the last year alone Ke$ha has advocated for lions, sharks and spoken out against animal testing. The singer is in good company. Past winners include Sir Paul McCartney, Hayden Panettiere, Ellen DeGeneres and Portia de Rossi, Kristin Davis, and Ian Somerhalder.
