safewaychickenfoot

An Arizona woman was shopping for chicken breast at Safeway and was “shocked” and “disgusted” to find a chicken foot inside a meat package. She immediately tweeted the pic with the message, “Hey @Safeway, does this look like ‘chicken breast’ to you? I’m vomiting.”  Safeway responded via Twitter, asking which store location had the package. The woman, identified as Lindsey J., gave them the information, but was frustrated again when she returned to the store later and found the chicken foot still on the shelf. She told NewsBreaker:

“I came across [the chicken foot] when I was shopping for dinner at Safeway. My initial reaction was shock, of course, and I couldn’t believe what I was seeing. It was disgusting.
I tweeted the picture to Safeway and they responded almost immediately asking what Safeway store it was, and said they were going to contact the store immediately. I contacted the manager when I went back shortly after to see if it was still there, and because it was, I went to the customer service desk for the manager.”

Needless to say, people across the Internet are amused at this woman’s reaction of, essentially, finding a piece of chicken with her chicken. One Facebook user commented:  “I wonder if she knows what chicken breast really is and that it’s not just a lump of meat running around the barn.” Another Facebook user said that if the story makes it onto CNN, she’ll “take a picture of it, tweet it and ask CNN ‘does this look like news to you? I’m vomiting.’”

I wonder if Lindsey J. will consider going vegetarian after this? Lindsey, if you’re reading, I recommend signing up for a vegetarian starter kit. One of many, many reasons to go vegetarian is this: tofu doesn’t have feet.

I believe that if most people saw the meat they were about to eat being slaughtered and cleaned they probably wouldn’t eat it.
