Actress Shailene Woodley recently had to part with her flowing hair for an upcoming role, but “The Descendents” star made sure her beautiful locks would not go to waste. Woodley chose to donate her cut hair to Children with Hair Loss, a charity that makes wigs for children suffering from cancer or medical treatments that cause hair loss.

Woodley’s decision seems to be directly connected to the character she will be playing in her upcoming movie, The Fault In Our Stars. Based on the book by John Green, this story revolves around the love of two children who cope with cancer together. Woodley will be playing the lead role as Hazel Grace Landcaster.

This is not the first time Woodley’s compassionate behavior has caught the attention of others. John Green says that “despite becoming successful, [Woodley] stays weird and empathetic and wonderful. She’s often called a hippie by the media mostly because she cares about ethical eating and trying to reduce her [carbon] footprint.”
