Animal companions possess a healing power. Studies have shown that people with pets are happier and healthier. Therapy dogs bring a world of joy to people who are ill or elderly. One very special therapy dog, Jeffery, brings smiles everywhere he goes, as well as shatters misconceptions about his pit bull breed. The Positively Peaceful Pit Bull has also befriended a special young girl from Sandy Hook Elementary School.

Emma Wishneski met Jeffrey at a Christmas party at her school, some time after the horrendous shooting that sent shockwaves across the country, and claimed 26 young lives. Emma and Jeffrey bonded instantly.

“He’s really big and friendly, and he has a lot of slobber, but he’s cute,” says Wishneski, describing her furry friend. “He’s a pit bull. They’re supposed to be bad, but they’re actually really nice.”

“Emma has a smile that could light the world,” her mother says. “I feel like we used to see that smile a lot more, but it’s definitely still there, and when she’s with Jeffrey, she doesn’t stop smiling.”

Get some tissues handy as you watch this USA Today clip of Jeffrey in action and all the happiness he brings, especially to young Emma.

My Parents Forced Veganism on Me

If vegan parents don’t “force” their vegan values and beliefs on their children, society won’t hesitate to “force” standard American values instead.
