Actor, environmental activist and animal advocate Ian Somerhalder
is using his Twitter page once again to draw attention to a great cause.

“The Vampire Diaries” star recently tweeted:

Flash Flood for Good is a social media initiative that began on Sept. 24 and lasts for 72 hours. To join the cause, simply add your Twitter and Facebook feed to the Flood. Everyone posts together, allowing millions of people the opportunity to donate $10.

More than 2,000 children die each day from drinking unclean water. Just $10 provides a child with a year’s supply of clean water.

So far, $11,100 has been donated to the cause. This means 808,800 liters of clean water will provide enough drinking water for 1,100 kids for an entire year.

Other celebrities committed to the Flood include Bill and Chelsea Clinton, Hillary Duff, Rob Thomas and Cyndi Lauper.

If you’re mourning Sudan the rhino, go vegan

The world needs more vegans because more than dollars or pledges or sad-emoji riddled posts, our individual efforts can stop the demand for horns, for zoos, for animal flesh, and for the exploitation of any living being.

Criticize veganism, but don’t discredit it

Oppressive and harmful behaviour has no place in a movement rooted in anti-oppression.
