Country singer, Carrie Underwood, will be gracing the cover of the November issue of Women’s Health magazine and talking about her vegan diet in the featured interview. Well, sort of.
“I am a vegan but I consider myself to be a practical vegan,” she confessed in the interview. “If I order something on a menu and it has a sprinkling of cheese on top I’m not going to send it back.”
Does she actually mean, practically vegan?
“I’ve been vegetarian – no fish no chicken no meat vegetarian – for about a decade now. The vegan thing is something I try to do my best on because it’s a cheesy world out there. [My husband, Mike Fisher and I] recently went to Italy and they put cheese in, on and around everything! So I kind of had to be vegetarian when I was on vacation, and now that I’ve been back home I’ve been getting back into my vegan lifestyle.”
Indeed, it is a cheesy world out there. While Underwood has had some slip-ups and run-ins with non-vegan food, her dedication to healthy living and her honesty about being as vegan as possible is worth noting. But psst… Carrie, next time you hit the road, be sure to check Happy Cow!
