We were excited to share the news of an upcoming comic book following the adventures of Piggy, the three-legged superhero rescue dog, and his cat sidekick Simon! Now we’re even more excited to share an exclusive sneak peek of “A Piggy’s Tale,” courtesy of writer Tod Emko and illustrator Ethan Young.

Emko is president and founder of Darwin Animal Doctors, a non-profit providing veterinary care to wild and domestic animals in the Galapagos Islands. He rescued and adopted the real-life Piggy and Simon, and wants the comic to spread an important message about other real animals in need of help. “There are rescue animals everywhere who are heroic in their own right, and there are amazing animals everywhere who deserve rescue and a better life. Through action, adventure, and genuine entertainment, we can bring their stories to a wider audience,” Emko told Ecorazzi.

See the real Piggy below! He looks like a superhero, doesn’t he?

Emko writes of canine hero, “By lending a paw, or even just giving a look of empathy, Piggy has been able to help countless disabled, mourning, and downtrodden people and animals who just needed a small spark of hope to go on. Compassion and generosity are true super powers, and when you use them, you can achieve feats you once thought impossible.”

Check out some exclusive peeks at “A Piggy’s Tale” below! If you want to see the whole comic book, help make it happen – there are 19 days left in the fundraising campaign!
