SeaWorld Orlando needs to find a new band to kick off their Bands, Brew, & BBQ Fest in February because Willie Nelson is out!

Nelson’s show has been pulled from his own website and SeaWorld has confirmed the cancellation, but no one has (yet) said that it’s related to the B-word (“Blackfish“). In SeaWorld’s statement to CNN, spokesperson Nick Gollattscheck, wrote, “Due to scheduling conflicts, Willie Nelson will not be appearing at SeaWorld Orlando’s Bands, Brew & BBQ event in 2014.”

Considering Barenaked Ladies, another band on the fest’s roster, cancelled earlier this week and the fact that there was a Change.org petition (with 9,000+ signatures) encouraging Nelson to cancel as well, it’s easy to speculate that this cancellation was related to the blacklash that SeaWorld parks are experiencing since the release of the popular documentary.

Acts that are still currently slated to perform at SeaWorld’s fest are Cheap Trick, REO Speedwagon, Martina McBride, 38 Special, Justin Moore and Scotty McCreery. There is currently a Change.org petition aimed at Cheap Trick, encouraging them to be the next band to cancel.

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

If you’re a vegan who has had to deal with this, and especially if you come from a background of being abused in other ways, you are absolutely not alone
