According to Russell Simmons, “There’s 100 reasons why you should be on a plant-based diet” and now he’s putting his money where his mouth is and taking two young men under his wing for a life-changing three weeks.

Simmons has committed to training and mentoring two friends, Teddy Ray and DoBoy, who are overweight, unhealthy, out of shape and in desperate need of a lifestyle transformation. He plans to not only teach them the benefits of a plant-based diet, but to personally walk them through aerobics, yoga and meditation training. They aren’t completely sold on the plant based diet, but do seem willing to go along for the ride.

Health and fitness expert Ashley Bordon has a few lessons for the friends as well. Namely, that plain-colored foods (like breads, pastas and fried snacks) are usually junk food and have way less nutritional value than bright fruits and veggies. If they continue to eat this way, she warns, a lot of health problems and a shortened life are in store.

To help the two men jump-start their journey to health, Simmons and Bordon have arranged for a plant-based food service that will deliver three meals a day while the friends begin their transformational three weeks with Simmons.
