Canadian Figure Skater Wins Silver and Inspires Vegans Everywhere

Canadian vegan Meagan Duhamel just won a silver medal in team figure skating at this month’s Olympic games in Sochi, Russia. With this victory, she adds to a wave of passionate athletes who are overcoming stereotypes and proving that plant-based diets can fuel strong bodies and world champions.

According to her Twitter account, Duhamel is a proud “Olympian, Vegan, Yogi and Nutritionist” and it’s pretty clear that her healthy lifestyle has paid off. The figure skater now joins the ranks of many world-famous athletes – including bodybuilders, Ironmen, tennis legendsfootball stars and many more – who have chosen to live and win on a plant-based, whole food diet.

Through their lifestyle choices and successes, athletes like Duhamel are sending a positive message to the world and encouragement to vegans everywhere. Their victories show that choosing a vegan diet – with all of the healthy, anti-disease, eco-friendly and cruelty-free benefits it has to offer – does not leave the body weak and undernourished. In fact, just the opposite is true! Vegans are strong, successful and able to compete (and win) in world-renown gatherings like the Olympics.

      If you consider the percentage of vegan athletes compared to the percentage of vegans globally, you’d be surprised.
