“Game of Thrones” star and longtime vegetarian Peter Dinklage has joined with the likes of Paul McCartney and Alec Baldwin by teaming up with PETA to narrate their farming exposé “Face Your Food.”

Because of his love for animals, Dinklage has been a vegetarian since the tender age of sixteen. He is aware of the cruelty that is associated with meat and dairy production, and wants everyone to make a conscious decision when making food choices. He believes that people should know where their food came from.

In the first few minutes of “Face Your Food” Dinklage warns the audience that “[t]he images that you’re about to see might make you want to turn away, but this is what you pay for every time you buy meat, eggs and dairy products. That’s why tens of millions of kind people just in the United States alone have decided to leave animal products off their plates for good.”

Dinklage narrated the video because he wants the viewers to know what their money supports everytime they buy meat, eggs and dairy products. Although it may be difficult to watch, the video documents the ways in which animals are tortured on factory farms, and makes the viewer aware that the meat and dairy products found on grocery shelves came from live farm animals who have rich emotional lives and who suffer just like we do.

Dinklage encourages a plant-based diet, as it is the only way to ensure that animals are not being exploited, tortured, or killed.

Peter Dinklage is superb as Tyrion on “Game of Thrones,” but his best role to date is as a compassionate animal advocate helping to educate the public about the horrors of the meat and dairy industry. Thanks for writing up this article Joan Reddy, and for being such a dedicated activist yourself!

Stop calling vegan food “cruelty-free”

Many vegans proudly proclaim that their food is “cruelty-free” as though issues of justice and injustice begin and end with our use of nonhuman animals.

fight

Verbally abusing your vegan friends isn’t edgy, it’s just being a bully

If you’re a vegan who has had to deal with this, and especially if you come from a background of being abused in other ways, you are absolutely not alone
