A Dixie Chick is urging everyone to take a stand against animal cruelty at Butterball Turkey slaughterhouses.

Natalie Maines took to Twitter on Wednesday to spread the word about the hideous acts of violence being performed at the Butterball Turkey slaughterhouse.

Powerhouse animal rights organization Mercy for Animals released the undercover footage showing what really takes place inside Butterball’s factory farms. The video shows baby turkeys being ground up alive, birds having their beaks and toes cut off without any anesthesia, and workers kicking and stomping on live birds and leaving injured ones to bleed to death. The actions are documented on a very graphic video on the website Maines linked to on her tweet.

Disgusted? Outraged? Follow Maines’ advice and sign the Mercy for Animals petition to help stop these horrific practices.

Why Vegetarianism Makes No Sense From A Moral Perspective

I don’t consider my years as a vegetarian as a stepping-stone or prerequisite to veganism

I hope I win the ‘Pig Farmers of Tomorrow’ contest I entered (I’m vegan)

I think I’ll likely have the most interest in pigs of anyone applying, anyway.

Hopefully Jon & Tracey Stewart use their new farm for vegan education

They’ve promised classes on caring for animals and sustainable agriculture, so vegan 101 would be a great place to start.
