Boxer David Haye Goes Vegan to Make Amends
Professional boxer David Haye is looking to veganism to help him get back in the boxing ring and championship circle.
In a recent interview with The Independent, Haye opened up about his decision to go vegan six months ago. He said, “I watched a TV documentary about how animals are farmed, killed and prepared for us to eat. I saw all those cows and pigs and [realized] I couldn’t be a part of it any more. It was horrible.”
Haye didn’t just jump into the plant-based lifestyle without educating himself. He looked at his diet and his body to make sure he would receive the protein needed for his profession. As he told the publication, “I did some research to make sure I could still obtain enough protein to fight and, once satisfied that I could, I stopped.” He also added animals are officially out of his diet by declaring, “I’ll never go back.”
As part of his plan to reclaim the world boxing title, “The Hayemaker,” who was recently forced into retirement due to an injury, is making amends and changing his lifestyle for the better. By reining in his alter ego, going vegan and taking care of himself, Haye is hoping to once again wear that championship belt around his waist.
