Isa Moskowitz is no stranger to the modern vegan scene. In fact, she’s one of the founding mothers.
From her humble beginnings with the Post-Punk Kitchen public access TV show (which later spawned the popular PPK website), Moskowitz has undoubtedly helped push veganism into the mainstream. Her slew of cookbooks (“Vegan Cupcakes Take Over the World,” “Veganomicon,” and “Isa Does It,” to name a few) have prime real estate in kitchens around the world, dog-eared and bookmarked and maybe a little stained. She’s done web-based cooking shows and has been a featured guest at vegan festivals around the world. Now, she’s rocking the vegan world with what will be one of the most anticipated restaurant openings we’ve ever heard of: her own restaurant, Modern Love, opens in Omaha, Nebraska, on August 5th.
Named for the restaurant’s mission – “comfort food with a modern twist, made with love” – Modern Love serves up mouthwatering vegan fare using local and organic produce when available. Though the restaurant doesn’t officially open its doors for a couple more weeks, the reservation line is open and hoppin’, and the menu is online!
Jalapeno Corn Fritters and Stuffed Zucchini Blossoms… Watermelon Beet Salad with Almond Ricotta… Mac & Shews with BBQ Cauliflower and Pecan Crusted Tofu… Butternut Cheesecake with Pecan Praline… Did you ever think such vegan splendor would happen in Omaha, Nebraska?
Once you’ve rubbed your eyes and realized this is actually a dream come true, start looking up flights to the Midwest. We have a good feeling that, no matter where you are, Modern Love will be worth the trip!
