New Series Enlists Elite Soldiers to Protect the Environment
Pivot has enlisted some major national heroes to protect the environment on its new docu-series ‘The Operatives.’
The eight episode reality series will feature a team of former elite soldiers that will go on missions to expose the worst offenders in environmental crimes worldwide. One of the tough guys enlisted is eco warrior Pete Bethune, formerly of ‘Whale Wars’. Others include a former SEAL Team 6 member, a former paratrooper in the New Zealand Air Force and a woman former air force UAV pilot who flew military drones over Iraq and Afghanistan.
“Our mission is to gather as much evidence as we can and bring these criminals to justice,” says Bethune on the show’s trailer.
In each of the episodes, the operatives have as their goal to collect footage of the environmental criminals red handed. On the first episode, they go after people clubbing seals to death in Namibia. Among the other issues to be documented are the pollution of marine reserves and the destruction of the last untouched rainforest.
Like any good reality show, the conflicts are both internal and external as they struggle with their own personal issues while tackling their missions. The drama, however, is all real and unscripted, with all documented footage being used as evidence for persecution of the offenders.
‘The Operatives’ premieres on Sunday, August 17 at 10pm ET/ 7PM PT.
