In a video, which was released to celebrate Bill Clinton’s birthday by the nonprofit Clinton Foundation, Kevin Spacey, playing his “House of Cards” character, Frank Underwood, calls Hillary Clinton as Bill Clinton to find out what she is getting him for his birthday this year. Get it?

“This is a very personal decision that I will make when I’m ready,” Clinton responds, which sounds awfully familiar.

Underwood (Spacey) responds as Mr. Clinton, “I’d really love one of those elephants you’re always talking about saving.”

Those “elephants” being Africa’s wild elephants. Last fall at the Clinton Global Initiative, Clinton announced an $80-million, three-year global effort that would seek to protect Africa’s elephants from poaching and ivory trafficking, a cause that Clinton has been championing for years.

“I like to go the extra mile for my friends,” said Spacey of the video. “So when I saw President Clinton’s birthday looming out there on my calendar I couldn’t resist recording a special message for him. And since I’m in the midst of filming the next season of House of Cards, I decided it might be fun if Frank Underwood and my friend Hillary Clinton got involved.”

Even if the video is a fake, it’s good way to spread the word about an important cause. But Bill really should know better than keeping an elephant in the backyard.

The former President’s birthday is Aug. 19. He turns 68.
