UN Report: Climate Change is Real and Might be Permanent
The United Nations has released a new report on climate change and, unfortunately, it says that which we already knew: climate change is real, caused by humans and it’s not going away.
The report is a 127 page long synthesis of three other reports put together by the team of Nobel prize winners at the United Nations’ Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change on the status of climate change and its effects. The document, which still needs to be approved at a conference in October, was released to governments this week.
“Continued emission of greenhouse gases will cause further warming and long-lasting changes in all components of the climate system, increasing the likelihood of severe, pervasive and irreversible impacts for people and ecosystems,” the report says while also mentioning that depending on the circumstances, “currently observed impacts might already be considered dangerous.”
The report blames the burning of fossil fuels like oil and gas for the weather phenomena and mentions that in addition to rising sea levels, increased temperatures, droughts and other natural disasters can be expected.
Hopefully that will be enough evidence for those climate change deniers to just give up already.
