We all know Jessica Chastain is a good cook after Octavia Spencer’s endorsement on the set of ‘The Help’ but we didn’t know that talent ran in the family.

The Oscar nominee got her mom not only to become vegan with her delicious recipes but also to change careers and become a vegan chef.

“I’m vegan and she came to visit me and we spent two weeks together and so she just ate the food that I was eating and she felt so good she went back home and there weren’t any restaurants for her, so she was like, ‘Y’know what, I’m gonna open a restaurant,’ and she became a vegan chef and she’s really good,” Chastain told The San Francisco Gate.

Chastain then bought her mom a food truck so she could sell her delicious vegan dishes in San Francisco, where she now owns her business.

The actress was so inspired by her mom’s journey she even enrolled herself in a two-week cooking lesson. The class might not have been vegan, but she sure treated it that way.

“There was a day of fish, which I just watched. It wasn’t a vegan cooking class; it was just a health food cooking class. … I watched them make the fish,” she explained.

We are definitely hitting up mama Chastain’s truck for a meal when we’re in San Fran!

Don’t blame vegans for the shame you feel about using animals

The shame Carly Lewis claims veganism casts over her is more likely the ghosts of moral uncertainty, spectres that are more likely fish than cows, wondering how morality can possibly be used as ammunition in favour of murder.
