Parody travel show features non-vegan, vegan restaurant

All the “unchicken” vegans eat is causing hilarious confusion.

Nerdiest reports that comedian Jonah Ray will host Hidden America with Jonah Ray, a parody travel show premiering June 2nd on streaming service Seeso. In the clip above (the first look at the show) Ray checks out the hottest vegan restaurant in San Francisco. Thing is, it’s confusingly “not” so vegan. The restaurant is run by chef Ling, played by actor Randall Park.

Ling’s “Not” Meat is a restaurant that has vegan sensibilities, but no vegan food. He touts “feeling like you’ve eaten a vegan meal,” while still eating meat. From his objection to soy, to his love of vegan footwear, this parody actually shines a pretty hilarious light at the vegan hipster debate and some of the more common stereotypical expectations of vegan dining. It also makes meat and dairy filled foods sound pretty gross, actually.

The show is billed for nine-episodes that will see Ray checking out other major U.S. cities like Boston, Chicago, Seattle, and New Orleans. No word on if more “vegan” dining will be parodied.
