While I’m sure some of you wish I had video of Jennifer Garner pouring her heart out over polar bears and rising temperatures, sadly this is a little more low-key. That’s not say that such a scene hasn’t happened. According to Jennifer (we’re on a first-name basis), ever since becoming a mom, she’s reacted much more emotionally to events around her; including the environment. From the article,
“Jennifer has also confessed she cries more now she is a mother. The actress believes the experience has made her more caring.
She said: ‘Since I became a mother, I cry more because I care about things more.
‘I can’t watch a movie where something happens to a child. And I’ve always cared about global warming and breast cancer, but now there seems to be an urgency about them.'”
Urgency or hype? The New York Times ran a story today telling Al Gore to “cool it” with his dire predictions; citing concern from some scientists that his warnings may be exaggerated. Personally, I see nothing but good coming from erring on the side of ‘worst case scenario’. If the others are right, and global warming never becomes a monster, we’ll have cleaner rivers, cleaner air, and a more sustainable planet anyways. If the other side is wrong, we’re in for one hell of a nasty ride. I’m with Jennifer — bring on the tissues.
Thanks to Shea for the tip!
