It’s no secret that Brad Pitt has a passion for architecture. His most famous involvement in the industry is the sustainable rebuilding of New Orleans’ lower 9th Ward through his Make It Right foundation, but the actor is also involved in a green hotel project in Dubai. Or at least was. Since the worldwide economy imploded, we’re not sure if that particular deal is still on.

Anyways, yesterday Pitt visited the construction site of the Oscar Niemeyer International Cultural Center in Aviles, Spain. According to the mayor, Pitt has taken an interest in the project — in particular, the sustainable aspects. “Brad is interested in supporting the project, both in cultural and architectural aspects” Aviles mayor, Pilar Varela, said. “He is interested in building with innovation, novelty. Pitt was especially interested in the aspects of the project aimed at boosting environmental sustainability. This is why Brad Pitt has came to visit the site,” she added, noting it was too soon to say how exactly the actor would participate in the project that’s to be launched in mid-2010.

It’s so great that celebrities like Brad Pitt are supporting green developments. As soon as more people get behind the cause of sustainable living and housing, the better the world will be. Brad should support green housing in Costa Rica – lots of celebs are opting for plush vacation homes there and it’s also the greenest country in the world.
