Jillian Granz, a senior at Michigan State University, is the winner of Suzy Amis Cameron’s first annual “Red Carpet, Green Dress” contest. Amis Cameron, wife of Avatar director James Cameron, developed the competition to stimulate sustainable design and global green education and to raise funds for her non-profit school in Topanga, California.
“Red Carpet, Green Dress provides an amazing opportunity to aspiring designers and perfectly connects to MUSE’s global green philosophy by applying environmental awareness to our everyday lives,” explained Amis Cameron.
Granz, who majors in apparel and textile design at MSU said, “I just can’t wait for the Academy Awards to come out so I can watch Suzy on the red carpet. I don’t even think I am going to understand completely until I see her wearing it on the red carpet – – what this means for me. It’s just going to be a dream.”
The design will be made into a dress by Oscar Award winning costume designer, Deborah Scott. The finished product will be worn by Suzy Amis Cameron when she attends the 82nd Annual Academy Awards on March 7.
