While you are getting ready to buy your tickets for Live Earth Australia on Friday, we’ve got some more exciting news on the series of concerts that will be held on 7.7.07.

It was announced this week that the Rio de Janeiro concert will be entirely free. If that doesn’t help draw the expected 1 million people to Brazil’s Copacabana Beach, I don’t know what will! They say this will be the only concert that will be free and open to the public. Artists for the event have still not been announced, but I seem to remember that at least Mana will be playing the Rio location. I would expect to see a lot more Latin names on the list for this one, as well.

Plus, two more concerts have been announced. In addition to Sydney, Shanghai, Tokyo, Johannesburg, Rio, London & New York – we’ve now got Hamburg & Istanbul added to the list.

We’re already half way through May and less than 8 weeks to these concerts and the details still seem like they are coming together! Artists haven’t been announced for many, tickets haven’t gone on sale for others, and venues seem like they are still being decided. I’m going to be very interested to see how this whole thing turns out. One thing is for sure: if this turns out to be a huge concert with no follow through, it’s going to hurt the cause, not help it. I’m still hoping for the best.
