This is the second in a series of reviews of The 11th Hour. See our previous post “Does DiCaprio’s 11th Hour Deliver?

Leonardo DiCaprio Shooting 11th HourEcorazzi stopped by Hollywood yesterday for a pre-screening of The 11th Hour, a feature length enviro-documentary co-directed, co-written, and narrated by our favorite green star, Leonardo DiCaprio.

We half expected DiCaprio to show up in green spandex and rescue us from planetary emergencies with his icy stare. But what we got was even better: Environmental Science 101 in 91 minutes, with Hollywood production, the best professors in the world, and Leo as your study buddy.

The movie star turned the spotlight onto key scientists and leaders in the environmental movement. Says Leo, “We reached out to independent experts on the front lines of what could be the greatest challenge of our time – the collapse of our planet’s ecosystem and our search for solutions to create a sustainable future.”

Referring to the last moment when change is possible, The 11th Hour delivers what we need to help stop the clock – a cold hard look at what we’ve done to our planet, and where we’re headed (hint: it doesn’t look good) if we sit back and do nothing.

“During this critical period of human history, healing the damage of industrialization is the task of our generation,” explains the DiCap. But how do we do it? The 11th Hour doesn’t let us off easy with a few bite size tofu nuggets of activism to take home and feel good about. Expect an entire paradigm shift to chew on: A move away from plugging in CFL light bulbs, to putting said light bulb above our own heads and finding solutions to the crisis we’ve created.

It’s The 11th Hour, baby. Sink or swim. In select theaters August 17th.

What? No slide show? If there’s no PowerPoint presentation, I don’t see why I would go!

;) Just kidding, Leo…can’t wait to see it.

Hope he’s thinking about that green spandex thing…might really help get the message across.
