Fan Pays $52,100 For A Date With Kristin Davis

Filed under: campaigns, contests, donations — parrish @ 10:17 am

kristin1.jpg

Remember a couple weeks ago when a fan paid 41,100 dollars to go on a date with Scarlett Johansson? Well Kristin Davis’ eBay auction just raked in even more.A die-hard Sex and the City fan has paid $52,100 for two VIP tickets to accompany Kristin Davis to the New York premiere of the Sex and the City movie. As promised, the winning bidder and a friend will get their hair and make-up professionally styled, receive a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes and of course accompany Davis down the red carpet.

The $52,100 raised on eBay will go to everyone’s favorite charity, Oxfam. Davis recently said, “Oxfam’s mission is to alleviate poverty and injustice by helping people learn skills and create lives. I just got back from Africa and saw firsthand that we’re making a long-term difference. It gives me a sense of satisfaction.”

Yeah, knowing that someone would pay 52,100 dollars for a date with me would give me a pretty decent sense of satisfaction too. Thanks Kristin, eBay, Oxfam and most importantly that unidentified eBay bidder for being just a tad crazy enough to dish out all that dough for tickets to the show! Let’s all go to the movies!

So Did Ecorazzi Help Whole Foods Find A Podcast Star?

Filed under: campaigns, contests, ecorazzi exclusive, events, events: nyc — parrish @ 8:46 am

First off, let me just get this out of the way: HAPPY ST. PATRICK’S DAY!!! Ok…moving on.

This weekend I spent some fabulous green time as a judge at Whole Foods in NYC searching for the next Whole Earth Generation spokesperson. If you read my previous post, you know that the Whole Earth Generation is an original online series of 10-minute shows created for kids by kids to help raise awareness for the environment. Now I can’t say anything officially…but I think we just might have found one of our youngins!

On the judging panel with me was Alison Becker a hostess with the mostess from VH1, Rebecca Ulanoff, Marketing Team Leader at Whole Foods, and Hunter Gross- a 12- year-old badass with his own green company. Yeah that’s right…HIS OWN GREEN COMPANY, PEOPLE!!! Hunter and his folks run ProjectKool, a eco-friendly company offering cool and creative canvas alternatives to the boring (and wasteful) paper lunch bags that eventually end up clogging our landfills. Go check out Hunter’s site and help support an awesome green dude!

Big thanks to the team at OrganicWorks Marketing for running everything smoothly and treating us all so well. If you think your kid has what it takes to represent America’s next Whole Earth Generation, visit youtube.com/wholefoodsmarket and submit a video. And…that’s a wrap!

Kristen Davis Auctions A Sex And The City Package On eBay

Filed under: campaigns, contests, events, events: nyc — parrish @ 4:08 pm

First it was Colin.  Followed by Scarlett. Then it was Minnie. Next it was George. Then it wasn’t George. Now it’s Kristen. This song and dance is more confusing then Lindsay Lohan’s stance on animal rights.  Yes, it does seem that these days all the cool kids in town are eBaying their personals to help raise money for Oxfam-”an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to povery, hunger and injustice”.

Now it’s being reported that Kristen Davis has also jumped on the Oxfam bandwagon and is auctioning off two VIP tickets to the Sex And The City premiere in New York City.  The full package is for you and a friend and includes a pair of Jimmy Choo shoes, professionally styled hair and make-up, and of course the chance to accompany Davis down the red carpet at the screening.

Davis says: “Oxfam’s mission is to alleviate poverty and injustice by helping people learn skills and create lives. I just got back from Africa and saw firsthand that we’re making a long-term difference. It gives me a sense of satisfaction.”

So if you just gotta “score” a little sex in the city, visit eBay and ”do it” for a cause!

Scarlett Johansson eBay Oxfam Update!!

Filed under: contests, events, film-tv, green and famous, movies — parrish @ 10:45 am

Last week Ecorazzi told you that Scarlett Johansson was teaming up with Oxfam America and eBay to auction off a date for the premiere of her new movie, He’s Just Not That Into You.  Along with some Scarlett face time, the package included two tickets to the premiere, some professional hair and make-up styling, and a chauffeured car.

Well the auction officially ended yesterday, and a UK bidder, known only as ‘bossnour’, paid a whopping $40,100 for the gilded prize! As promised, the entire forty grand will go to Oxfam – an international relief agency that fights poverty around the world.

From everyone here at Ecorazzi, thank you to Scarlett and “bossnour” for raising some seriously awesome cash for a seriously awesome organization. Have fun at the premiere!

A face only a mother could love

We slobbered over Minnie. We gushed over Scarlett. And now we’re practically throwing our underwear at George Clooney.

Clooney has joined the myriad of celebrity do-gooders who are all auctioning off a little one on one bonding time on eBay. Specifically, George is looking for a date for the March 31st Los Angeles premier (and after-party) of his new film Leatherheads. All the money raised from the eBay auction will help fund programs at the Boys & Girls Club Of America.

More details to come, but for now visit the Boys & Girls Club Of America and learn about all the great things they do!

Win $100,000 Dollars And A Date With Minnie Driver on eBay!

Filed under: contests, shopping — parrish @ 10:41 am

driver.jpg

In perhaps the strangest contest news ever, FX is teaming up with eBay to launch The Riches Charity Auction, which runs from March 12-23. The winning package includes $100,000 and an opportunity to meet movie/pop star Minnie Driver. Now if you’ll remember, I had the chance to sit down with Minnie a few weeks ago, and you have my word that this chick is awesome!

The strange thing about the contest is that you’re bidding money to win money. I’ll say it again: you’re bidding money to win money. In fact, this is the first time in eBay’s history that visitors are able to do this.

All the proceeds from the winning bid (but not the 100,000 dollars FX is dishing out) will be donated to Oxfam America-a charity that Driver actively supports. Oxfam America is an international relief and development organization that creates lasting solutions to poverty, hunger and injustice…and we here at Ecorazzi think they’re just swell!

Stephanie Gibbons, FX Executive Vice President of Marketing & On-Air Promotions, explains her rather backwards auction this way, “On The Riches it is all about the big score, but this show has heart. With this auction we’re able to tie in both themes, giving someone the chance to get the win money while making a difference. We couldn’t be more excited to work with eBay and see this auction come to fruition.”

This is cool, but wouldn’t it be cooler if the winner donated the $100,000 back to Oxfam? If you want to meet Minnie (I mean who doesn’t) and have a chance to win some cool loot, visit The Riches Charity Auction page and place your damn bet! Word to the wise: Minnie is taller than you think, so make sure you wear high shoes on your date!

Ah, remember the good old days when Knut was only a cuddly little guy and not a giant 245lb bear with movie deals and rumors of Suri Cruise representing his voice? For the 2007 green issue of Vanity Fair magazine, Leonardo DiCaprio and Knut shared the cover while hanging out on some drifting ice. Your mission is to give these guy some conversation material. To see our winning entry from last week’s caption between Al Gore and Richard Branson, click here. The winner gets a copy of The Green Book.
