Stella McCartney Really, Really Wants To Design Scarlett Johansson’s Wedding Dress

Filed under: fashion — michael @ 10:11 am

Scarlett Johansson and Ryan Reynolds are finally getting hitched. The pair announced their engagement this past week and sites lit up all around the web with the news. We all know Scarlett’s a pretty eco-friendly gal - so we were waiting for some “green wedding” details to start emerging. Fashion designer Stella McCartney, however, isn’t waiting for the Johansson/Reynolds camp to make up their minds and has announced she’s creating the dress.

Okay, she’s less insisting and more joking — but Stella is anxious to potentially be the designer of something fabulous (and green) for the actress. “I’m definitely doing her wedding dress,” she told PEOPLE Magazine. “She just doesn’t know it yet.” When pressed further over what type of gown she might design, Stella joked “You know, some kind of dodgy, black thing. Latex! Latex for Scarlett!”

Speaking for all the guys out there, a latex wedding dress for Scarlett sounds wonderful. Stella, in our minds, you’ve got the job!

The Green Quote: Laura Bailey On Stella McCartney Fashion Line

Filed under: fashion, green and famous, thegreenpicture — parrish @ 10:08 am

“I love Stella McCartney’s braided t-bar sandals. As a vegetarian I love that they’re leather-free. Style-wise, I think they’re glam but low-key and beachy enough to wear every day on holiday.”

Lindsay Lohan Accused Of Stealing $11,000 Fur Coat!

Filed under: animals, fashion, green and famous, not green — parrish @ 9:51 am

Looks like Lindsay Lohan is knee deep in coat controversy after an $11,000 fur coat (gross) went missing from a New York City hotspot earlier this year.

Here’s the deal: Masha Markova (aka Cruella de Vil) owned this super posh, super cruel, $11,000 dollar blond mink coat. So Masha decided to wear it to a friend’s birthday party — because fur is soooooooo cool (written with the utmost sarcasm) — but when she went to retrieve her pelt of glory it had mysteriously vanished. Turns out Lindsay Lohan just happened to be at the same party and also just happened to be photographed later that evening wearing an $11,000 blond mink coat. Oops!

Anyway, Masha saw the pictures, was totally pissed and wanted bloody revenge, so she called her lawyer and threatened to take legal action. Long story short — all of a sudden the club called Markova and was all like, ” Oops sorry. Umm we have your coat if you want it back”, and returned it to her smelling of booze and cigarettes and with a tear in the lining, but offering no further explanation. So NOW Markova is REALLY pissed and is demanding Lohan pay her a $10,000…get this..”rental fee” for “borrowing” the coat.

Wait! First off, what the hell is Lindsay doing wearing fur anyway when just a couple months ago Ecorazzi spotted Lohan with an anti-fur button? Fur’s not a very flip-floppy issue, you’re either for it or against it. And yes it’s wrong to steal or “borrow” or “rent” without permission, but who spends $11,000 bucks on a fur coat and then charges a $10,000 rental fee? I’m sorry poor little miss thing lost her precious coat, but only a little sorry because she sounds like a tool and if you can’t already tell by my blatant editorial eye rolls…I THINK FUR SUCKS! In conclusion, it’s unfortunate that Lindsay’s back in fur, but hey, maybe she was trying to confiscate it for PETA. Anyone?

Celebrities Design Tees To Benefit Rainforest Foundation

Filed under: campaigns, fashion — michael @ 11:28 am

Wednesday night, fashion designer Carlos Miele launched a series of t-shirts designed by celebrities and fashionistas to directly benefit the Rainforest Foundation. Those lending their personalized touches to the green-themed tees included Scarlett Johansson, Camilla Belle, Michael Roberts, Diana Picasso, and Alice Braga.

100% of the proceeds from the launch party will benefit the conservation organization — which was founded by rocker Sting and his wife Trudi Styler back in 1989. Said Miele of the effort, “I’ve liked the work of the Rainforest Foundation for a long time. I think Sting was a visionary when he came to Brazil and he was really concerned about Amazonia and the rainforest. For me, it’s great to support this foundation.”

You too can support the foundation — with 20% of each purchased tee going towards the Rainforest Foundation. Prepare for some sticker shock, however. I found one store online selling the main shirt for $173.00. Yikes.

[UPDATE] Apparently, the above website is selling those tees at a ridiculous, illegal price. The real price is $35. You can pick them up at Carlos Miele stores (646.336.6642) or at www.vivre.com

Go Green Expo Conquers The Big Apple With Eco-tastic Weekend

Filed under: ecorazzi exclusive, events: nyc, fashion, honors — melissa @ 4:48 pm

The New York City-based Go Green Expo had its Big Apple debut this past weekend at the Hilton New York. The green weekend kicked off with an inaugural awards gala which included a runway fashion show featuring eco-wear by Maggie Norris, a former designer for Ralph Lauren. Host Nigel Barker of America ’s Next Top Model auctioned several couture pieces – topping at $7,000 - benefiting Riverkeeper’s Amazon Conservation Association. Award recipients included Congressman Steve Israel, Captain Planet Foundation’s Laura Turner Seydel, Live Earth Founder Kevin Wall and NYT best-selling author David Bach for their individual contributions to the green movement this year. Celebs in attendance included the always-stunning actress Sissy Spacek, model Lauren Bush, Playboy model Lindsey Vuolo and TV personality Pat Mitchell.

The weekend continued with a three-floor, green-living and sustainability event including vendor booths, panels and film screenings. Goodies ranged from bamboo-clothing by Carole Wang to green printers, ride-share companies, bags, jewelry, cosmetics, to organic foods and beverages like Sobe. Many of the products featured boasted free-trade production.

One of the most notable extra-curriculars was the Fields of Fuel, film screening chronicling Josh Tickell’s U.S. road-trip in a “Veggie-Van” fueled by vegetable oil from fast-food eateries. He also breaks down green energy and major myths and misconceptions. Who knew (aside from Josh) that Rudolf Diesel, who created the first diesel engine, had designed it to run on vegetable oil, not petroleum?! To call this film eye-opening would be a great understatement. Despite its current grass-roots marketing effort I would confidently put all bets on this powerful, film as a shoe-in for the next Best Documentary Oscar. “Fields of Fuel” already won the Audience Choice Award at the Sundance Film Festival. The inspirational Josh Tickell took park in Q&A with expo-goers and has been working on this film for almost 10 years and has loved inspiring others. Check out a clip of the movie here or visit the official site at http://www.fieldsoffuel.com/.

The Green Quote: Bradley Whitford’s Charity Inspiration

Filed under: campaigns, donations, fashion, green and famous, interviews — parrish @ 10:56 pm

“It was in the wake of 9/11 and there was this ridiculous discussion about whether [the industry] should have awards shows, and there was an idea floating around that we should go ahead and have them. You know, you realize when you’re in the public eye that you can raise money, and Jane and I were in this bewildered state where you’re walking down a red carpet and people are asking you what you’re wearing. We thought that was an opportunity [to use] the celebrity culture we seem to be in. The intention is to advocate for children using some of the ridiculousness that is show business.”

     - Bradly Whitford on Broadway.com discussing the Clothes Off Our Back Foundation — a charity he and his wife (actress Jane Kaczmarek) started that auctions off celebrities’ clothing for children’s causes.

Stella McCartney’s Organic Lingerie Is Dreamy

Filed under: fashion — michael @ 12:30 pm

You may have the eco-friendly shirt, recycled jeans, and bamboo socks — but what about your undergarments?

Proving that green isn’t just something to wear on the outside, Stella McCartney is releasing a new lingerie collection that features one of 13 sets made entirely of organic cotton. From the article,

“The Daisy Dreaming set, as the organic lingerie is called, has a hand-stitched effect, silk trim and includes both triangle and under-wire bras. Bottoms are available in bikini, boy-leg or thong, so there are plenty of combination options. The other sets are made from materials like chiffons and silks.”

We’re rather surprised that Stella chose not to go completely organic with the other designs as well — but we figure it’s only a matter of time; especially for a fashionista that has redefined sustainable and ethical luxury clothing.

Stella McCartney’s lingerie section is available at Harvey Nichols, Liberty and Selfridges at around £75 for a soft-cup bra and £40-£60 for briefs. Visit her official website for buying options Stateside.

Filed under: campaigns, fashion, green and famous, shopping — parrish @ 9:08 am

A few days ago I confessed out totally unaware I was of pretty much all of things “tween culture”, but it’s been my Earth Week resolution to study up on the comings and goings of those under 16, and so I’m pleased to report more celebrity do-gooders not quite old enough to see an R rated movie.

Pop duo Aly Michalka and AJ Michalka are featured in a new ad modeling Tommy Hilfiger-designed orange t-shirts to support the Nancy Davis Foundation for MS. A number of retailers will soon be caring the charitable garb, and of course all proceeds will go to the Nancy Davis Foundation For MS to educate the community and fund MS research.

Also, soon you’ll be able to pick up bracelets by Alexandra Knight and wallets/peace bracelets by Tommy Hilfiger.

For more information, visit EraseMS.org and discover your inner do-gooding tween.

Hayden Panettiere Donates Her Clothes To Help Save The Whales. Again.

Filed under: campaigns, fashion, green and famous — parrish @ 12:27 pm

Do you ever think to yourself, “Gosh, I wish I dressed just like Hayden Panettiere!” Well now you can. Oh, and when I say dress just like her, I mean dress JUST like her.

As Ecorazzi has reported over and over again Hayden loves her some whales, and so, in her continuous fight to protect the beloved species, Hayden is literally donating the clothes off her back to help raise money for the Save the Whales Again Campaign - an international conservation project.

The message on PanettiereCloset.com says, “All items come directly from the actual home of the Heroes star! Many of these designer items are new and have never been worn, while some have been worn by Hayden once (e.g to awards ceremonies, photo shoots, etc,).” Oh and if you think you’re just getting a bunch of crappy left-overs, Hayden’s people have provided this little disclaimer: these are NOT items that Hayden is giving away because she does not like them!

I won’t be shy when I say every time Hayden does something wonderful like this I fall a little more in love. To see what’s in Hayden’s closet visit PanettiereCloset.com and help save Moby Dick!
