But instead of the kind that involves recycling, composting, and sorting — the actress instead just throws everything away. In fact, there’s so much that she’s resorted to chucking it into neighbors bins.

While on The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien last Friday, Witherspoon said, “I like to throw things away. I’m obsessed with garbage.”

“After a holiday or a birthday, I have tons and tons of garbage and it always overflows and I always sort of peek out late at night and look at the neighbours’ garbage can, and it’s, like, empty. They’re like these amazing people that have no trash.”

“So, if I have a particularly bad day, where I have a lot of extra garbage, I go and take my garbage and put it in theirs.”

Sounds like someone needs a few lessons in waste control. Who’s up for tackling this one? The Lazy Environmentalist? Danny Seo?

It’s not green. It isn’t sustainable. And it’s without-a-doubt one of the cruelest types of fashion out there. Cruella de Vil wore fur for godsakes!

So you can imagine how disappointed we are at The View’s Sherri Shepherd for galavanting around the stage in her full-length fur coat. We also lost tons of respect for Whoopi Goldberg for supporting the fur and praising Sherri’s coat.

A Scent of a Scandal Co-Founder Ari Solomon posted an open letter to Shepherd on GirlieGirlArmy.com. In it he writes:

“It takes 40 minks to make one fur coat like the one Ms. Shepherd wore on the show. These animals are kept in cages so small they literally go insane from running around in circles. Animals that are caught in the wild have their limbs clamped shut in iron traps. They are sometimes left for days bleeding, freezing and starving, often trying to chew off their own limbs, desperately trying to escape.”

And that’s just beginning.

Please join myself and many others in contacting ABC and letting them know what you think about the incident. It’s 2010 and wearing fur is totally unacceptable. Period. End of story.

The filmmakers interviewed Stanford civil and environmental engineering Prof. Stephen Schneider for the movie, but were later told that they did not have permission to use the footage. Furthermore, Schneider says that his comments used in the movie were taken out of context and and that the filmmakers “manipulated his viewpoint”.

“I’m always on the record,” Schneider told The Stanford Daily. “I just pulled the plug on these guys because it occurred to me they were not honest.”

This isn’t the first time that climate change skeptics have twisted the words of scientists and researchers in an effort to prove a point. The laughable “documentary” titled The Great Global Warming Swindle was ruled to have “misrepresented the views of some of the world’s most distinguished scientists”.

It appears that history is about to repeat itself with this gem of unfortunate “documentary” filmmaking.

Actress Hilary Swank recently told Marie Claire magazine that she gave up her 18-year vegetarian diet just two years ago because she didn’t believe it was healthy. The actress insists that vegetarianism was making her too thin and that she needed to gain weight. However, Hillary still struggles with eating animals. She says:

“I just started withering away. I wasn’t getting enough vitamins or protein. (It was) very emotional.

“I sat over my plate and cried. I really had to work through it. It still makes me emotional. I don’t know if you have ever looked into a cow’s eye, but it is so soulful. So I don’t like it – but it’s something I have to do.”

Oh, goodness. Obviously one’s diet is a personal choice, but saying you can’t get enough vitamins and protein? That’s just silly. A plant-based diet is loaded with nutrients and plenty of protein-filled options. Eating an omnivorous diet is certainly not something one “has to do.” But wait a second – this story seems a little strange to me.

After winning an Oscar in 2005 (4 years ago), Hilary claimed to have celebrated with a burger and fries. Wait, what? The whole timeline just doesn’t add up. What do you think about all of this? Play detective and help us crack the case!

In fact, in a recent review of the all-electric Tesla Roadster (the guy also moonlights as a car critic for the UK Daily Mail), Martin baited the bicycle community with this:

God, I hate those cyclists. Every last herbal tea-drinking, Harriet Harman-voting one of them. That’s one of the reasons I live in the countryside, where birds tweet, horses roam, pigs grunt and Lycra-clad buttocks are miles away. But recently, there’s been a disturbing development. Each Saturday, a big black truck appears at the bottom of my road, with bikes stuck to the roof and rear. Out of it step a bunch of City-boy ponces in fluorescent Spider-Man outfits, shades, bum bags and stupid cleated shoes, who then pedal around our narrow lanes four abreast with their private parts alarmingly apparent. Do they enjoy it? They never smile. I’m sure they just come here to wind me up.

Then, in what’s since been removed from the article, Martin then went on to describe how he quietly crept behind a group of bicyclers in the Tesla and then blared his horn forcing them off the road. “The look of sheer terror as they tottered into the hedge was the best thing I’ve ever seen in my rear-view mirror,” he wrote.

Whether or not the incident actually ever happened hasn’t been revealed, but Martin has suffered a shit-storm of criticism in the wake of the article. Said one commenter, “It’s risky enough out there anyway without stupid, fat chefs trying to run us of the road, which, by the way, cyclists have the right to be on – motorists have to pay for the privilege. Hopefully, his career will now go down the frying pan. Smug idiot.”

The chef has since apologized for the piece — but we think a more appropriate gesture would have been to drop the car for a week and take to the roads to see the BS bikers have to deal with everyday. Perhaps then, with the shoe on the other foot, some real perspective could be gained.

If SIGG’s first apology plastered all over their website wasn’t enough for you, CEO Steve Wasik is reaching out again — and this time, he’s letting us know how the company plans on being 100% transparent with customers.

Wasik posted a personal article on The Huffington Post yesterday offering more apologies in the face of rising backlash against SIGG’s failure to disclose the presence of BPA in its liners. “I am writing to apologize,” he said. “As Chief Executive Officer of SIGG, a leading maker of reusable water bottles, I made a mistake when I decided not to announce that our old bottle liner contained trace amounts of bisphenol A.”

Wasik then goes through the motions of describing what SIGG has learned as a result of this failed disclosure — concluding with some immediate steps for resolution:

We will:

>>Post details about the contents of our bottles: the new liner, the cap, the bottle itself. And we will make the information as transparent and understandable as possible.

>>Make it easy for consumers to exchange their old bottles for new, BPA-free SIGGs. You can still ship your old SIGGs to us via our voluntary exchange program. Or if you prefer to avoid shipping costs and lead time, you can make the exchange at your local SIGG retailer, most of whom are participating in the program. To make it easy, we will post on our website a list of these retailers.

>>Unveil an independently managed grant program to help fund BPA and chemical research that will help eliminate confusion and concern about this issue. While we have moved away from BPA in SIGG products, it continues to be used in countless products that we all use each day. If it poses a real threat, we want to help curb its use.

Though an apology may not be enough for some SIGG customers (or as we saw this morning, business partners), it is a step in the right direction for the CEO to expand on the issue and let us know what steps are being taken to remedy concern. Trust, however, is a hard thing to earn back — and if SIGG wants to be around for another 100 years, they’re going to have to really adhere to the above new principles.

Madonna is on Mother Earth’s naughty list.
The material girl recently placed an order for 110 pounds of kosher beef for the last two performances of her “Sticky and Sweet” tour in Tel Aviv. WHOA!

Madonna is on Mother Earth’s naughty list.

The material girl recently placed an order for 110 pounds of kosher beef for the last two performances of her “Sticky and Sweet” tour in Tel Aviv. WHOA!

While some believe that Kosher beef is less cruel, the truth is far more grim. And environmentally? Well you can bet Mother Earth is crying her damn eyeballs out. Let’s do a little math, shall we?

According to the Water Education Foundation – a non-profit organization that prides itself on being “the only impartial organization to develop and implement educational programs leading to a broader understanding of water issues and to resolution of water problems” – it takes 2,464 gallons of water to produce one pound of beef.

That means Madonna’s one order is using 271,040 gallons of water!!!!

Now consider this: federal regulations mandate that new shower heads must exceed no more than 2.5 gallons of water per minute.

A little number crunch on the old calculator will show that you could take 10,840 showers with the same amount of water used to produce 110 pounds of beef. Assuming you take one shower a day, this means you could shower for more than 29 years with the amount of aqua Mo wasted on her beefed-up order.

For this stunt Ecorazzi gives Madonna 2 HUGE green thumbs down. Save some water for the rest of us, why don’t you?
