New Electric Car Company Turns Out To Be Hoax Attacking Barack Obama

Filed under: politics, web — michael @ 12:39 pm

Here’s an interesting ploy:

A mysterious announcement popped up on the web a few weeks back declaring that a new car company called FOSH Automotive was about to drop a green bomb on the automotive industry. Their vehicle would be “the first unlimited mileage, electric car with a revolutionary, self-regenerating battery system.” Better yet, such amazing technology would retail below $25,000.” Sign up with your email address and they would update you on their progress.

Of course, bullshit meters went into the red all over the web — but some green sites remained optimistic for when the company would finally reveal its cards.

Turns out, it’s all a hoax — with the original “green car” site now displaying political rants against Barack Obama and showing photos of abortions. “For those that believe we are pulling a hoax,” the site says “You’re dead wrong. The real hoax is barack hussein obama and we are trying to make the world a better place by showing you how easy some people fall for what they want to believe. The United States of America, without the socialist, entitlement supporting, flip-flopping, lying, checkered past barack hussein obama as our leader, is better off, as is the world.”

Even worse, for all those that signed up to be on the “Fosh Automotive” mailing list, their address will now be used to some unknown political means. A truly deceptive tactic that I suppose should come as no surprise.

Greenpeace Uses Wall-E To Attack Kleenex Forest Destruction

Filed under: 'toons, film-tv, movies, video, web — michael @ 6:36 pm

Greenpeace is taking the environmental themes from Pixar’s latest animated flick Wall-E and extending them to include the virgin deforestation practices of tissue-brand Kleenex. Teaming up with celebrated animator Mark Fiore, the short cartoon shows a Wall-E robot discovering a nasty looking counterpart called Kleer-E. When the curious robot touches a button on the Kleer-E it comes to life and plays a short video detailing how Kleenex clear cuts every tree and leaves nothing but stumps behind.

The irony is that while Kleenex has boxes on the market featuring Pixar’s Wall-E character and sporting “This box is made from 100% recycled paper.” on the bottom — the tissues inside are made from centuries-old trees that were cut from forests that had been around for as much as 10,000 years. According to Greenpeace, there’s nothing green or sustainable about their products.

Check out the video after the jump — or hop on over to the Greenpeace Kleercut site to help make a difference and petition Kleenex to change their ways.

Emily Deschanel Picks Out Her Eco-Faves On Green With Glamour

Filed under: products, web — michael @ 9:29 pm

emily deschanelThe gals over at Green With Glamour have found a fan of the store in Emily Deschanel and have partnered up to give the actress an “Eco Faves” section on the site.

Deschanel is a committed environmentalist and passionate about animal welfare and womens’ rights. She’s also a hardcore vegan and regularly throws her support behind organizations such as Farm Sanctuary, The Humane Society, and Natural Resources Defense Council. Here’s what she had to say about GWG,

“My number one place to buy gifts is Green with Glamour, but I never can resist getting several things for myself as well. It’s wonderful to know that you can be eco-friendly, ethically sound, and not have to scrimp on style. They do all of the whittling away, so you are only browsing the creme de la creme. It makes shopping so easy! From eco fashion to beautiful furniture, GWG has everything I could possibly want (or need).”

To that end, Deschanel has selected five products she loves. From wallpaper to lamps to a skeleton pillow. That’s right. A skeleton pillow. Remember, this is the same chick starring on Fox’s hit drama called Bones. Feeling it?

Anyways, cruise on over to GWG to see what Emily has picked out. For the record Emily, I totally would have gone with the Octopus pillow.

Roseanne Barr Slams Angelina Jolie, Jon Voight In Latest Blog Entry

Filed under: politics, web — michael @ 12:38 pm

Actress Roseanne Barr has gone on the warpath against actress Angelina Jolie and Jon Voight regarding their political opinions.

In her latest blog entry (and seriously, this woman blogs a lot!), the 55-year-old slams Voight for his critiques of Barack Obama, calling the actor “a frightened little girl in a pink ballet tutu, who acts like Obama just wandered in from the rain forest with a bone thru his nose and a communist pamphlet in his loincloth.” Back in July, Voight wrote an op-ed piece for the Wasington Post in which he said, “God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way.”

Barr also attacked Angelina Jolie, and her husband Brad Pitt, after the actress revealed recently that she hadn’t really made up her mind yet in terms of supporting McCain or Obama. “I am waiting to see the commitments they will make on issues like international justice, refugees and how to address the needs of children in crisis around the world,” she said.

Roseanne’s response? “Aren’t you supposed to be somewhat enlightened, or do you not know that the african daughter you hold in every picture had parents who suffered and died because of the republican party’s worldwide economic assault on africa over the last few decades since reagan? Angelina Jolie and her vacuous hubby Brad Pitt make about forty million dollars a year in violent psychopathic movies and give away three of it to starving children trying to look as if they give a crap about humanity as they spit out more dunces that will consume more than their fair share and wreck the earth even more. (just sayin’).”

Ecorazzi Celebrates Two Years Of Good Green Gossip

Damn, we're old.

Filed under: ecorazzi exclusive, web — michael @ 4:33 pm

Two years on the web feels like a very long time. Somehow, we’ve all managed to survive more than 700 days of covering the latest in guilt-free gossip while staying sane and not annoying our families. You would not believe the inane facts I can now spiel at the dinner table about any one celebrity and their philanthropic efforts or misdeeds. It’s surprising my brain didn’t jump ship long ago.

But seriously — we’ve had a blast these past few years — and continue to look ever-forward in developing this concept and having fun every step along the way. When Rebecca and I first started this site back in August of 2006, we had no idea what type of impact something like this might generate. To this day, I continue to be surprised at the comments, discussion, and awesome insight all of readers bring to the table. We’d be nothing but a name without you. The same goes for our incredible contributors, videographers, and everyone else behind the scenes working to make this site hum day in and out.

To that end, we’re celebrating by giving back. In fact, I can’t remember a larger giveaway ever being presented on this site than the one we’re about to throw down. Staring tomorrow, the Razz will be begin the first of what will be more than 28 days of green gifts. We’ve hooked up with an incredible array of the best eco-friendly companies and artists out there and will be spotlighting each one, every day, and giving away something cool from their inventory. We’ve got an electric bike, organic chocolates, an electric lawnmower, jewelry, magazines and books, organic clothing, home goods, and much, much, more.

So, I hope you enjoy the fun — and also learn something about these great green companies helping to make a difference out there. Thank you again for keeping us alive — and making Ecorazzi what it is today!

Gary Busey Wants You To Be An Eco Entrepreneur

An EVIL Eco Entrepreneur

Filed under: business, video, web — michael @ 11:00 am

Ever since his now legendary red carpet appearance at this year’s Oscars, Gary Busey has become something of an icon of idiocy to millions. Which is great, because I’ve often thought the world could use more Busey — and thankfully, someone out there was thinking the same thing.

The 64-year-old actor is appearing in a number of video shorts called “Gary Busey On Business“, in which he dishes funny and cliché biz tips to the masses. The one that caught our attention is titled, “The Fake Hybrid SUV Car Sticker Idea”. From the clip,

“How ’bout a sticker on the side of your SUV that says ‘It’s a Hybrid?’ You won’t save the planet or use less fuel, but people won’t be giving you the finger or calling you the village idiot, or an environmental disaster…”

It’s genius Gary — but darnit, someone already beat you to it. Nevertheless, I’m confident that Busey will yet come up with a plan to curb climate change, lower gas prices, and cure cancer. If he can’t do it, no one will.

Morgan Freeman in Serious Condition After Car Accident

Filed under: web — lindsey @ 1:58 pm

Morgan Freeman, Oscar-winning actor and founder of Plan!tNow, is in serious condition after a car accident last night just outside of Charleston, Mississippi. Reports said that it appeared as though Freeman’s vehicle had been airborne when it left the highway and landed in a ditch.

“They had to use the jaws of life to extract him from the vehicle,” McFerrin said. “He was lucid, conscious. He was talking, joking with some of the rescue workers at one point.”

He is currently being treated at a hospital in Memphis, Tenn. about 90 miles from where the accident took place. The hospital, an “acute care teaching facility”, is commonly referred to as The Med.

Lots of positive thoughts and prayers are with the Freeman family for a speedy healing process and full recovery!
